Since the beginning of the school year both our schools, Stedelijk Dalton College Alkmaar and Albrecht-Dürer-Gymnasium Berlin are having an Erasmus+ partnership which is also the occasion for the panel discussion with Prof. Dr. Helge Braun, head of the Federal Chancellery. His visit also coincided with the international Europe Day.
On the school stairs, our special guest was warmly welcomed by the district councilors, Ms. Korte and Mr. Liecke, Ms. Keller, our headmistress, and by our student representative, Khadiza Uddin. After a short speech by Ms. Keller and after the presentation of the project by Matheo our panel discussion started in the auditorium.
The students Emilio, Alicia, Khadiza, Mohammed, Selina and Sila asked questions about the copyright laws in Europe (Article 13), the European elections and climate change, in particular about the “Fridays for Future” movement.
Prof. Dr. Braun gave detailed, if not always direct, answers to our questions, which opened up new perspectives and led to lively discussions. He gave us an insight into his personal views on our concerns, which we hope will be heard in the future.
We students not only felt honored, but above all are thankful for this exchange of ideas !
